The City

   Mumbai - The host city for the IWPSD 2007 - the capital city of Maharashtra state and the commercial capital of India, is a sprawling metropolis with a fascinating blend of the past and the present. Situated on the west coast of Maharashtra, it is the world's 5th most populous metropolis.


The Venue

   IIT Bombay - This premier institute, set up by an Act of Parliament, was established in 1958, at Powai, a northern suburb of Mumbai. Today the Institute is recognised as one of the centres of academic excellence in the country. Over the years, there has been dynamic progress at IIT Bombay in all academic and research activities, and a parallel improvement in facilities and infrastructure, to keep it on par with the best institutions in the world. Institutes in positions of excellence grow with time. The ideas and ideals on which such institutes are built evolve and change with national aspirations, national perspectives, and trends world - wide. IIT Bombay, too, is one such institution.

   This conference is being organized as part of the IIT Bombay Golden Jubilee Celebrations.


   TIFR Bombay - The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) was established in 1945 at the initiative of Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha. It had a modest beginning at the Kenilworth site on Peddar Road, Bombay in 1945 and later moved to the Royal Yacht Club, Apollo Bunder until the buildings at the Navy Nagar Campus in South Bombay were ready in 1962. The Institute is proud to have produced many of the finest scientists of India who have been involved in seminal research in fields ranging from Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics and Science Education as well as some aspects of Public Health.


   Society for Semiconductor Devices - The SSD is one of the leading societies in the area of semiconductor devices, committed to the promotion of science and technology. Climate & Time
   The dry season, between November and February, is characterized by moderate levels of humidity and warm to cool weather. Indian Standard Time is 5.30 hours ahead of GMT.

Transport & Communication
    Mumbai is on the map of major International Airlines. It is also connected by Indian Airlines and private airlines to major cities. Indian Railway link Mumbai to all major places in India. All modern communication systems are available in Mumbai and practically all over India.

Insurance
    Delegates are advised to take adequate personal insurance and cover for personal travel, baggage, accident or illness. The Organisers will not be liable for any personal accidents or loss/damage of private belongings of delegates during the Conference/Exhibition.
