The host city for the IWPSD 2009 , the capital city and the nerve center of India, the world’s largest democracy, is a sprawling metropolis with a fascinating blend of the past and the present. Delhi has grown steadily and today it possesses some of the finest examples of ancient, as well as modern architecture. With just the right mix of the old and the new, Delhi features monuments, mausoleums, places of worship, forts, business centers, universities and gardens, spread over an area of 1483 sq. km at 216 m above sea level, Delhi is “India in Miniature” where the essence of every culture and tradition is felt and is a feast for one with a keep sense of interest in history and architecture.

  CLIMATE & TIME  
  The temperature in December varies between 8-20 degree Celsius. Suitable woolen clothing is recommended. Indian Standard Time is 5.30 hours ahead of GMT.  
     
 

TRANSPORT & COMMUNICATIONS

 
 

Delhi is on the map of major International Airlines. It is also connected by Indian Airlines and private airlines to major cities. Indian Railways link Delhi to all major places in India. All modern communication systems are available in New Delhi and practically all over India.

 
     
 

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS – VISA REQUIREMENT

 
 

In addition to a valid passport, all visitors require a visa which may be obtained from the Indian Embassy/High Commission/Consulate in the country of the visitor. “Visa on arrival” is not granted in India and passengers not having a valid visa are liable to be deported. For obtaining visa, if you need invitation letter for Conference/Exhibition, please write to Chairman, IWPSD-2009 well in advance. Multiple entry visa should be required for entry to neighbouring countries – Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh or Nepal and re-entering India. There are no restrictions on the amount of foreign currency or traveler cheques a tourist may bring into India provided he makes a declaration in the Currency Declaration Form given to him on arrival.

 
     
 

RESTRICTIONS ON EXPORT ARTICLES

 
 

Export of all wild animals indigenous to the country and articles made from such listed animals like skins, pelts, furs, ivory, rhino horns, trophies etc. are not allowed.

 
     
  INSURANCE  
  Delegates are advised to take adequate personal insurance and cover for personal travel, baggage, accident or illness. The Organisers will not be liable for any personal accidents or loss/damage of private belongings of delegates during the Conference/Exhibition.
